While considering "Leaving Iowa," the new comedy at the Downstairs Cabaret Theatre's Winton Place location, the words that kept coming back to me were "quaint," "American," "identifiable," and "universal." The DCT website references a review that places the play in "Mitch Albom territory." That's a good summation of the

Just a glimpse of John Haldoupis's set for "The Little Dog Laughed" gives you a surprisingly thorough roadmap to the show. A Hollywood red carpet flows into a hotel room, where it bisects a bed before continuing on to the iconic billboards of New York City. It's a compact,

The opening group number was "Got To Get You Into My Life." I don't know why I continue to be surprised when Phillip sounds good on these group numbers. I think it's because his growly affectations would not logically work in a combo situation, but he sounded great here

We're at Top 3! Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez, and Phillip Phillips. Three very talented young people. Three songs for the semi-finalists. First came the judges' picks. Second were the contestants' picks. Third were Jimmy Iovine's picks. Overall a very strong night. Personally I think it's among the best Final

Wednesday night's performance show demonstrated that we have three really talented finalists still in this race, and also poor Hollie Cavanagh, who has no business still being in this competition. It also proved to me that the Julian Lennon fan club still exists in the year 2012, so

The themes for the night were "California Dreamin'" - songs either about California or by bands from California - and "Songs the Contestants Wish They Had Written." Those are incredibly broad themes. On top of the two solo performances there were two duets, a group number, and looks back

Right to results - no group number tonight. Joshua was up first. I think it's safe to say that Joshua has become the most polarizing contestant this season. The judges, Jimmy, and the producers just love him, and so do many viewers. But then there are people like me who

Opening the show we got The Queen Extravaganza, a band that Ryan told us were hand-picked by the remaining members of Queen. They sang "Somebody to Love." The first half of this was simply dreadful. The lead singer looked vaguely like Freddie Mercury but his voice was dead.

I guess we'll call that the finale that wasn't. The finales for "Drag Race" have historically been controversial. In Season 1 you had the widely adored Nina Flowers losing to the also-awesome Bebet Zahara Benet. In Season 3 you had Ru giving the nod to edgy, unconventional queen Raja
