Blackfriar's production of "Tommy" It was wonderful. Both the theater and the musical were top-notch. There is not a bad seat in the place. The talent in Rochester is amazing. My vote goes to "Tommy" and Blackfriars.

Check out Devil May Care Boutique's facebook page before you vote. Their posts are always interesting, and they have amazing photography. My vote goes to them!

My vote goes for Bread & Water Theatre and their production of "4.48 Psychosis". It was a challenging production about manic depression and suicide that really touched my heart. We need theatre in Rochester that is entertaining and challenging. My vote goes to them for best theater and best theater production. Please vote for them as well.

Some of the bands in the Original band names should be in the cover band category, especially if they just rip off elvis costello and or other progressive synth-pop?

Ted Nicolosi is by far the best solo musician in Rochester. He's playing every Saturday night in October at Jasmine's Asian Fusion in Webster, NY. Come out and see what a fantastic guitar player he is.

My vote's going to Bread and Water and 4.48 Psychosis. Hands down one of the best show I've seen in years.

WRUR IS the BEST radio station in Rochester and is mysteriously not on the ballot. Why? Great music, NPR news, informative interesting programs, no annoying ads or announcers ... what more could one want? Please accept as my protest and write-in vote for WRUR as the best radio in Rochester.

Erich Camping is by far a true artist, capturing the exact moment of joy, suprise and artistic beauty which is found in his photography. Having enjoyed his work for years, he only gets better. In my book he is a 10 star artist. If you want the best of the best I would only recommend him. He's made my family events only more special. He truly deserves to be #1 in Rochester.

How was WRUR left out of the ballot? Where is the write-in space?

User Photo

Eric said on Oct. 02, 2011 at 7:33pm

Steve: The Final 4 that appear on this ballot were culled from the four biggest vote getters in each category from our primary ballot, which ran through the month of September. We received thousands of votes in the primary, in which anyone could write in the name of whatever answers they wished. Unfortunately WRUR did not make the Final Ballot this year.

Even if a band may sound like Elvis Costello, they're not covering his songs, and they should win an award that one should even say that they're comparable to a music god like Elvis Costello. Also, there's nothing wrong with some good synth-pop.

I want to cast my final votes, but do I have to answer all these questions from Suvey Monkey? It's page after page of questions.

User Photo

Eric said on Oct. 10, 2011 at 8:55am

Nancy: You do not need to answer all the questions. We ask that responders fill out 40 or so just to avoid ballot stuffing -- people going in and voting for only one business/person -- but you certainly do not need to vote in all of them. The instructions on the first page should explain that.

The survey started with #2 Restaurants and is too involved. I just wanted to go to the category that I really want to ballot for.

Same as Yvonne - I completely filled out Survey Monkey's questions but can't get to the Rochester's Best survey - it says I have no surveys to complete. Help!!

Beth said on Oct. 20, 2011 at 11:13am

The ballot link is NOT working at this time; it is just asking people to sign up to use survey monkey. When you click on it, it is saying "thank you for taking the survey"--as if you had ALREADY completed the ballot.

This is why people are confused; this needs to be fixed ASAP!

User Photo

Eric said on Oct. 20, 2011 at 11:19am

Beth: The ballot is working fine. I just tried it. You get that message if someone using your computer/IP address has already completed the survey. If you think that is in error, I encourage you to take the print version of the ballot that ran in this week's paper. Either way of voting counts.
