INDIE ROCK: New Pornographers (8/28)

By Emily Faith on August 25, 2010

Noble tunes embiggen the smartest band. That is an absolute truth for the New Pornographers, a Canadian indie smorgasbord of musical talent. A.C. Newman, Neko Case, Dan Bejar, Todd Fancey, and Kathryn Calder are all taking time off from their successful solo careers to support extensive touring for the group's latest release, "Together." Bright and striking enthusiasm for the art of the pop song shines through every pulsating riff and multi-layer harmony. Expect a show that rocks from start to end. The heart of this music is a raw honesty mixed with beautifully raw, undeniable talent. And it's rare that all members are able to tour together, so be sure to catch this show as it's the only area appearance.

New Pornographers play Saturday, August 28, 7 p.m. at CMAC, 3355 Marvin Sands Dr., Canandaigua. $28.50-$36. 393-4880, cmacevents.com.
