Middle Eastern dishes and street foods can be ordered a la cart at Istanbul Market, including lahmacun, a Turkish cousin of thin-crusted pizza topped with a spicy mixture of finely ground lamb, beef, onions, tomatoes, and Italian parsley. Top the rice pilaf (long-grain white rice enriched with fried onions and mixed with both orzo and filini) with braised chicken in a spicy brown sauce full of paprika, garlic, red peppers and onions, and a dollop of homemade hot sauce. The market also offers beef, chicken, or spinach and cheese samsas made with homemade dough. Pakistani items are offered as well, including chicken makhani and korma. Sweet-tooth staples include baklava and kadayif, a confection similar to baklava made with thin strands of vermicelli-like pastry.
