The bar-food trinityof pizza, wings, and burgers is exceedingly well rounded out at Sully's. Owner Donna DiMarz0 was among the first restaurateurs to bring wood-fired pizza to Rochester at the near dozen establishments she's been involved with around town, including Veneto and The Social. At Sully's, DiMarzo serves pizza the way it was when she was growing up, thin-crusted "with all that good bad stuff on it," she says. In addition to her traditionally topped pizzas, her white pizza combines garlic, oil, dollops of ricotta, and mozzarella mixed with asiago. Pizza and wings cook in the same oven. The wings are roasted right on the bricks, taking on a bit of char along with the tang of wood smoke. Burgers are another feature at Sully's, and DiMarzo grinds her own beef daily, creating burgers with a loose texture, served on a sesame-seeded bun. The Volcano Burger starts with more than a quarter of a pound of freshly ground smoked-paprika-seasoned beef formed around a stuffing of pickled jalapenos and pepperjack cheese, griled and topped with even more cheese, and served with a side of chipotle ranch dressing. All this comes from the tiny kitchen at the end of the bar.

My fiance and I tried this place out on a Friday evening and it was a very disappointing experience- the "wood-fired pizza" was soggy and unappetizing, the bartender was rude to us and made us feel unwelcome, the drinks were overpriced, and the service was slow. With so many other restaurants in town that do wood-fired pizza well, have better prices, AND have friendly staff- do yourself a favor and avoid this place.
